Why is it called "Nose-sculpturing surgery?"

The nose is located at the center of the face, so if one wants to have a 3-dimensional face, the rhinoplasty will be a priority operation for many people. For a good nasal shape, it is not just about padding up the nose. Rather the relationships between the nasolabial angle, the frontal and nose angle, the nose tip thrust angle, the nostrils, the nose wing and the nose tip must all be considered. In the past, the nasal shape was only to cooperate the facial shape, but now the concept has been greatly changed. It is not only necessary to make a nasal shape that fit one's face, but it must also be able to visually change the facial shape.

In the past, rhinoplasty surgery opens a small incision inside the nostril, and then put in the artificial nasal bone (usually the L-shape). In this way, both the nose bridge and the nose tip can be padded up together, and the surgery is done in a quick 20 to 30 minutes. The advantage of this surgical approach is that the incision is small and hidden in the nasal cavity. The surgery is simple and fast, but the chances of displacement and asymmetry is considerably high.

In the past decade, rhinoplasty surgery has been continuously innovated. The rhinoplasty surgery that uses the "L-shape artificial nasal bone" can no longer meet the aesthetic needs of most people. I personally think that using the term "rhinoplasty surgery" can no longer describe what we do to correct the shortcomings of the various parts of the nose (nose tip, nasal dorsum, nasal bone, nasal septum, nasal column and nasal wing). We now customize and tailor-made the nasal surgery according to a patient's nasal shape, so I call this type of nasal surgery a "nose-sculpturing surgery."

The special features of Charm United's "Nose-sculpturing" surgery

The traditional rhinoplasty surgery opens a small incision inside the nostril, and then put in the artificial nasal bone (usually the L-shape). In this way, both the nose bridge and the nose tip can be padded up together, and the surgery is done in a quick 20 to 30 minutes. This operation takes only 20 to 30 minutes. And academically, we call it "L-shape artificial nasal bone rhinoplasty surgery." The advantage of this surgical approach is that the incision is small and hidden in the nasal cavity. The surgery is simple and fast, but the chances of displacement and asymmetry is considerably high, and it looks more unnatural. The result of such surgery is not enough for most people. It should look to correct the defects of various parts of the nose visually. The nose tip must undergo a cartilage transplantation to make the nose look good. Therefore, we call the surgeries that change the nasal shape collectively as "nose-sculpturing surgery." On the one hand, it emphasizes that the sculpturing of the nose is precise and meticulous, and its effects cannot be achieved with an artificial nasal bone rhinoplasty. On the one hand, it also emphasizes the individual differences impact of surgical methods greatly, and it takes an experienced surgeon who takes all parts of the nose into the overall consideration in order to do a good job.

In recent years, "nose-sculpturing surgery" has been the trend, and the surgery is moving toward more refined and natural techniques to improve on the raw rhinoplasty technique of the "L" shape artificial nasal bone. Director Dr. Yi-Sheng Kao was the first in Taiwan to push the open incision rhinoplasty into the closed and hidden scar nose-sculpturing surgery. The entire surgery adopts the "intranasal incision" so no scar can be seen at all. In addition, the two-stage nose-sculpturing surgery cannot completely solve the problem of patients with glabella depression, and Dr. Yi-Sheng Kao introduced the "three-stage nose-sculpturing surgery" in 2009 and has achieved outstanding results so far. For patients who need a second nose-sculpturing surgery due to a previous failed surgery, Dr. Yi-Sheng Kao also adopts closed incision to complete the operation, so that the scar cannot be seen from the appearance, and the patients do not need to worry about others knowing that a second surgery was performed.

There are so many kind of surgery names. Which one should I choose?

The scientific and technological advancement help improve the surgical techniques, and there are numerous surgery names. It is causing the consumer headaches so Director Dr. Yi-Sheng Kao would hereby briefly explain them for everyone to quickly understand them:

  1. Fully autologous nose-sculpturing surgery: All surgical materials, such as costal cartilages, nasal septal cartilages, aural cartilages, dermis, fat, and fascia, are all from the patients themselves.
  2.
  3. Fully heteroplastic nose-sculpturing surgery: All surgical materials, such as gingival implants, Gortex, PDS plate, Medpore and heteroplastic cartilage, come from outside the patients' bodies.
  4.
  5. 3D simulated nose-sculpturing surgery: The surgeon would use the 3D simulation technology to communicate with the patients about the postoperative results prior to the surgery. However, the surgeon generally cannot guarantee that postoperative outcomes are exactly the same as the simulations.
  6.
  7. 3D design nose-sculpturing surgery: This method adopts the 3D printing technology, printing out the nasal molding required by the patient and implanting it into the patient's body.
